There are so many benefits to personal development that you really want to make it a part of your entrepreneurial journey. Personal development helped me to start and grow my business and could do the same for you.
Even if you start with reading one book a month, that’s 12 books a year. You would be a different person and accomplish so much more in your life and business.
In this post, I’m sharing with the TOP 10 personal development books I have read and often re-read in my entrepreneurial journey. I’ve learned so much from these books they’ve shifted things my in business.
1. Start With Why by Simon Sinek
I love this book because its explain that your WHY is your belief. It’s your why that drives you. When you’re feeling stuck and frustrated in building your business, remember your WHY.
You have something to say and ready to share it with the world through your business, “Start With Why can help you get your brand voice and message delivered the right way.
2. The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren
This book really opened my eyes when I was looking for a fresh start. I knew I wanted to leave my 9 to 5 job and start my own business, but I also wanted to make sure that I was in aligned to my true design. I discovered “The Purpose Driven Life which reveals in detail why we are here. You’re here for a great mission and purpose waiting to be discovered.
3. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
The 13 Principles in Think and Grow Rich will forever change your mindset about the things you want to accomplish in your life and business. Your thoughts are really powerful. From these principles, I have attracted new clients, success mentors, business resources and opportunities. You thinking time will be one of your greatest asset in building and growing your business.
4. Change Your Thinking, Change your Life: by Brain Tracy
You really have to believe that you have great potential. Even if it seem as though you haven’t gotten the recognition or the promotion in your 9 to 5 job, know that you have the capabilities to do great things. Those dreams of starting and growing your own business can be achieved, change your thinking with the 12 principles laid out in this book.
5. How Successful People Think: by John C. Maxwell
If you’ve been doing the same job for many years, sometimes your thinking can become routine..this thinking pattern can keep you stuck in your job. This book can help you to unleash your thinking so that you can create new routines and a new reality for your life..such as building and growing your business.
6. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
Building a business while still employed full-time, you definitely want to learn how to develop new habits. As you know from reading through this series ( You did read all of them, right:), there’s a difference between an employee mindset and entrepreneur mindset. Habit 3: Put First Things First will help you to develop your entrepreneur mindset. Ex. The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.
7. The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy
Every small step you take towards building your business will get you closer to reaching your goal of leaving your full-time job and transition into full-time entrepreneurship. Getting started may seem hard or you may have experienced the start and stop cycle, the key is to build momentum. Adopting any new change, the progress is one step, then the next step until the new habit is formed and you build momentum. Once you build up momentum, you can work in a flow that helps you to get things done quicker.
8. The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod
How you start your day has an effect on how your day goes. I use to just wake up, say a quick morning prayer and jump right into my day. Then I discovered the Miracle Morning which helped me to be more strategic with my early morning time. I have more clarity, focus, and energy throughout my day. You can align your goal of starting your business with the Miracle Morning to enhance your focus and get more clarity.
9. Awaken The Giant Within by Tony Robbins
You’re responsible for your own change. This book can help you lay the foundation on what you really want out of life. To get from where you are to where you really want to truly lie in believing what is possible for you.
10. The Success Principles by Jack Canfield
There comes a time when you’ve said..enough is enough or I’m tired of this job or perhaps I want to do my own thing. I’ll be the first to admit…that was me until I learned about the success principles.
You can be stuck in your own story and it feels like an endless loop that keeps you stuck. With the success principles, you can shift your thoughts, images, and words to create new experiences.
